I Madonnari

One of my favorite Santa Barbara festivals happens over the Memorial Day holiday.  I Madonnari, the Italian Street Painting Festival, brings out chalk artists from near and far to create a wonderful tapestry of color, whimsy and beauty at the Old Mission.  The festival is a benefit for the Children's Creative Project where sponsors (businesses and individuals) purchase pavement squares on the Mission plaza to become the canvas for their chosen artists. The artists will begin on Saturday, May 29th this year, and almost of the works are complete by Sunday afternoon.  We still have rooms available for this holiday weekend, so come on over. How lovely to take evening stroll around the Mission,  watch the artists at work, and admire their paintings. Free.
