June 3rd is 1st Thursday in Santa Barbara and the Downtown Organization and participating galleries and cultural art venues have put together a great program for us. 1st Thursday is a free evening of art and culture; venues open at 5pm and programs continue until 8 pm. Among many offerings this month, the Faulkner Gallery at the Public Library hosts a juried exhibit, Flowers, by local artists, with live music by Cut Time Band. The Borders Patio will be filled with the dancing, haunting music and drumming of West Africa courtesy of Panzumo. Casa de la Guerra opens a new exhibit of the paper art of the Mexican muralist, Alfredo Zalce. Mexican and Latin music will be performed in the courtyard by SONando. Gallery Ten-Twenty-Nine opens Stepping Into Summer featuring works in a variety of media by over 40 local artists We have the June Passport (a free program guide and map) at the inn for anyone interested. There is always something special happening every 1st Thursday!
